Nathusius' pipistrelle in Great Britain & Ireland

This web site has been designed by Jon Russ. Jon is currently a postdoctorate researcher at The University of Aberdeen, the coordinator of the BCT/MTUK Bats & Roadside Mammals Survey and an independent consultant specialising in bats. He has been carrying out bat-related activities since 1995:

• Investigations of acoustic communication in pipistrelle bats - advertisement calls and distress calls
• Population monitoring and habitat associations of the wrinkle-lipped bat (Tadarida plicata) in Thailand

• Publication of Northern Ireland Mammals, Amphibians & Reptiles website
• A survey of distribution and habitat use of bats in Northern Ireland
• Constuction of an echolocation key to the bats of Madagascar, plus subsequent surveys
• Action plans for the bats of Northern Ireland
• Development of a car survey monitoring protocol for bats in the Republic of Ireland
• A study of the hibernal and pre-hibernal activity of Leisler's bat in Northern Ireland
